JK to install ultra-modern recording studio
THISDAY REPORTER
Dar es Salaam
PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has given Bongo Flavour artists an ideal end-of-the-year gift by promising to set up a studio with state-of-the-art equipment for them.
Addressing music stakeholders at the third anniversary of Tanzania House of Talent (THT) at the Karimjee Hall in Dar es Salaam on Monday night, Kikwete said he was optimistic the studio would help the artists produce hight quality music.
The President made the pledge when reacting to a request by the artists, who had asked him to help them have a an ultra-modern studio.
The artists said they needed a modern studio where they could record CDs and albums of high quality.
JK also advocated for unity among the artists, saying unity was the best weapon against various challenges facing them.
A host of Bongo Flavour artists, including TMK Wanaume Family, Banana Zorro, Hafsa Kazinja, Mwasiti Almasi, Keisha, Bushoke, Chid Benz and Mainda Zorro coloured the gala organised by Vodacom Foundation.
Head of Vodacom Foundation Mwamvita Makamba said plans were on for her firm to construct a modern training hall for the artists.
Mwamvita said the company would spend 50m/- on construction of the hall to be erected at a place yet to be revealed.
She said Tanzanian artists are endowed with uncanny music skills and that they only need support and exposure to excel internationally.
THT official Ruge Mutahaba assured music stakeholders that they are committed to helping young musicians hit the limelight.
He appealed to the business community and well-wishers for financial support, saying THT needs more support to realise their set goals.
My Take:
