(AP) WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold is visiting American troops in Germany during a three-country trip that also will take him to Africa.
A statement from Feingold's office says the Wisconsin Democrat met Tuesday with doctors and wounded soldiers in Landstuhl (LAHND'-shtool). The statement says he greeted troops along with Admiral Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Feingold is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees.
He'll also be visiting the African nations of Djibouti and Tanzania. His office says conversations there will focus on security issues in the region.
That includes discussions about piracy off the coast of Somalia, where pirates have seized some 40 vessels this year.
