By registering to be a member of MwanaKijiji.COM Forums and choosing to participate in this open community, you agree to abide by the following guidelines and rules:

Rules:

1. The forum respect and will defend to protect the anonymity of our members. NO one under any circumstances shall divulge the identity of any member without an expressed and clear consent of that particular member. This consent must be provided to the forum management. We encourage members NOT to use their pen names that they have used or still using in other forums. We reserve the right to cooperate with any law enforcement agency whenever there is a “clear and present threat” or there is a suspected criminal activity through our forum. Such cooperation will be extended only through an order of a court with proper jurisdiction. Divulging another’s identity will result to automatic and permanent ban.

2. You will keep in mind that the Mwanakijiji.com Forums are an open and uncensored community which depends on the goodwill and responsible behavior of its users. Please do not post or transmit any comment or statement which is deliberately intended to upset other users, start inflammatory arguments or interrupt legitimate discussion.

3. You understand that Mwanakijiji.com has not in any manner reviewed in advance, accepted, authorized, or endorsed any postings by users and accept no responsibility, financial or otherwise for any postings and/or statements. Users shall be solely responsible for any damages resulting from any infringement of copyrights, proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from the posting or transmission of any material, comment or statement.

4. Mwanakijiji.com may, at anytime and at their sole discretion, remove any postings or statements which are in violation of these guidelines. Mwanakijiji.com also reserves the right to permanently block repeat offenders from accessing the Mwanakijiji.com message board.

5. Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning. We do not allow 'cross posting' where a user posts the same text in more than one forum. This wastes resources as forum users have to read posts twice. It also causes confusion to the original poster as they may well find that replies are disjointed over 2 or more threads.

6. The moderating, support and other teams reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Team Members and not users.

7. Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning. Any material intended for adult audience MUST be posted in respective forum. Failure to abide will result an automatic PERMANENT BAN from the forum.

8. You will respect the right of other members to have different opinions, stands, or opposing views on any matter discussed here. Every one has the right to express his opinion regardless if that opinion is the least popular. No name calling or personal attacks will be tolerated.

9. Blanket statements condemning an entire demographic will not be tolerated. Threads posted for such reasons will be locked. Attacks directed to someone’s race, religious belief, sexual orientation, or things that are not of their own choosing such as color and tribe will not be tolerated.

10. Posting in all CAPS (capital letters) is not allowed. These can be annoying not only because in general "netiquette" they represent shouting, but the letters are also harder for the human brain to distinguish, thus making them harder to read. Therefore, posting in all caps is not permitted.

Guidelines:

1. Member Ban:

If a poster is banned from posting or accessing the forums that ban includes using another members account or log on details to access the forums or asking another member to post on their behalf. This action could have consequences for the other forum member.

A ban will in the first instance be for a minimum of 48 hours while the case is considered by the Moderators and Mwanakijiji.com staff. Following that it may be removed or extended depending upon the circumstances. If the user then gets banned again it is more than likely possible that this next ban will be for an extended period of time and could even be permanent.

2. Quotes:

Quotes can be a very useful way of making your reply to a post clearer by indicating which post or part of a post you are referring to.
However using them incorrectly can be annoying and make threads very hard to read.
The following rule applies to the use of quotes.
Only quote the full content of a post if :-

a) it is NOT the post immediately before your reply
b) You find that your reply has been forced onto a new page (then edit in the full quote if it's needed.)

In all cases you should think before quoting and wherever possible only use a part of the post you are replying to in order to make it clear which bit of a post your reply refers to.

The Moderators will remove unnecessary full quotes where they are posted immediately after the post being replied to.

3: Avatars and Signatures
The forum moderators reserve the right to ask any member to change their Avatar and/or Signature, should they feel that it is inappropriate, or does not comply with the following guidelines;
Avatar size should be limited to 80 x 80 pixels and a maximum file size of 20K.

Signatures should use no more space than 4 lines of standard sized text would, this includes any blank lines and images you choose to use. Image based signatures should be limited to 80 x 560 pixels and a maximum file size of 20K.

4: Posting of Personal Details
Without the express permission of the user these are not to be posted on the forums. This includes the content of pm's (personal forum messages) or emails received from moderators or staff. Any threatening or a message to another member perceived as threatening, harassing, spamming or as such should be forwarded to the Administrators for review and proper action. This may lead to suspension or eventual banning from the Forum.

5: Language:

With the exception of “Swahili Forum” members can post materials or their contributions in either English or Kiswahili. No other language or tribal dialect will be allowed except when it is used with translation.

This is NOT an exhaustive list. These are in addition to the registration agreement moderators reserve the right to add, remove or amend these rules without notice. The moderators reserve the right to modify and/or remove any post they consider to be damaging to the society, the website or its servers at any time.
