ndege kuanguka=mataka*m where m =mass
from the law above ina maana chochote kikienda vibaya basi lazima ndege inaunguke na tunajua mataka anafanya nini pale atcl..mwanakijiji sio kwamba mtabiri bali anabase from the scientific facts

Twenty-four people, most from the same family, have died after the plane they were travelling in crashed into a river in the Brazilian state of Amazonas.

Four others swam to safety as the plane sank in the River Manacapuru.

The pilots had reportedly contacted air traffic control a short distance from their destination of Manaus to say they were turning back.

The twin-engined aircraft, which took off from Coari, then disappeared from radar, apparently during heavy rain.

A local fire service official was quoted by Brazil's TV Globo as saying the pilots had been trying to reach a local airport, but the plane fell short by 500m.

Map
Four passengers who were sitting at the rear of the plane managed to open an emergency door to escape. All were said to be in a good condition.

The dead people were recovered from inside the plane. They included at least 18 members of the same family and several children, officials said.

The bad weather in the region had hampered the rescue effort in the murky waters.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

The plane involved in the accident was a twin-engine aircraft built by the Brazilian company Embraer.

Ila sijui kitaalamu wanaitwaje!
Inaogopesha..

AMSTERDAM – A Turkish Airlines plane with 135 people aboard slammed into a field while attempting to land at Amsterdam's main airport Wednesday, killing nine people and injuring more than 50, the area's acting mayor said.

The aircraft fractured into three pieces on impact. The fuselage split in two, close to the cockpit, and the tail broke off. One engine was visible lying almost intact near the wreck in the muddy field and the other was some 200 yards (200 meters) from the plane and heavily damaged, an Associated Press photographer at the scene said.

The airline had said at first that everyone survived. But at a news conference later, Michel Bezuijen, acting mayor of Haarlemmermeer, reported the fatalities.

"At this moment there are nine victims to mourn and more than 50 injured," he said.

At least 25 of the injured were in a serious condition and that the injured included crew members and passengers alike.

He said there was no immediate word on the cause of the crash.

Candan Karlitekin, the head of the airline's board of directors, told reporters in Turkey that visibility was good at the time of landing.

"Visibility was clear and around 5,000 yards (4,500 meters). Some 550 yards (500 meters) before landing; the plane landed on a field instead of the runway," he said.

"We have checked the plane's documents and there is no problem concerning maintenance," he added.

Turkish Airlines head Temel Kotil said the captain, Hasan Tahsin, is very experienced and a former air force pilot.

Gideon Evers, spokesman of the International Federation of Airline Pilots Associations, said the cause remained unclear.

"Certainly it appears to be an unusual circumstance, but as always the sensible course of action is to wait for the results of the investigation into the causes leading up to the accident," he said.

There was no indication that the crash had anything to do with the fuel level, Evers said, adding that regulations require all commercial flights to carry ample reserves.

According to mandatory limits, a passenger airliner must carry sufficient fuel to get to its destination, remain in holding patterns for 45 minutes, possibly divert to an alternate airport, hold for another 45 minutes, and then carry out a normal approach.

The fact that the plane crash landed in a muddy, plowed field may have contributed to making the accident less deadly, experts said, by absorbing much of the force of the hard impact. It may also have helped avert a fire resulting from ruptured fuel tanks and lines on the underside of the fuselage, which appeared to have suffered very heavy impact damage.

The initial impact with the ground appeared to have sheared off the hot engines, which could have ignited leaking fuel, and the loose soil would have absorbed it — further decreasing the risk of fire.

Cargo plane crashes in Lake Victoria, at least 7 die

2009-03-10 11:24:17
By ENTEBBE, Uganda

An Ilyushin cargo plane on a logistical mission to African peace forces in Somalia crashed into Lake Victoria yesterday after taking off in Uganda with 11 people on board, including three Burundian officers.

Seven of those on board were confirmed dead, and an aviation source said he feared all 11 had been killed. ``It plunged into the lake and went down deep,`` the source said.

Rescue boats and divers scoured the lake`s choppy waters for survivors some 7 km (4.3 miles) from Uganda`s main airport at Entebbe, where the plane began its flight. Two wheels and some wreckage were brought onshore.

Ugandan military sources had initially identified the aircraft as an Antonov, but the Ugandan government later said it was a chartered Ilyushin 76.

It was taking tents and water purification equipment to Somalia, where Uganda and Burundi both have soldiers in a small African Union peacekeeping mission, Ugandan officials said.

The aircraft burst into flames before plunging into the lake and hitting two fishing boats, injuring four fishermen, Uganda`s government spokesman said.

``We have not rescued anybody... Time is really working against us,`` said Information Minister Matsiko Kabakumba.
A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman said there were four crew and seven passengers on board the aircraft when it crashed.

A Burundi army spokesman confirmed three of its soldiers -- a brigadier general, a colonel and a captain -- had died.

``The information we have is that the plane crashed five minutes after taking off at Entebbe Airport. Burundi deplores the death of three of its officers who were on the plane,`` Adolphe Manirakiza told Reuters in Bujumbura.

There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
``We`re not ruling anything out, and we`re not ruling anything in,`` Kabakumba said, adding that the plane had flown some 20 missions in recent weeks.

Russian media said the pilot and copilot were Russian citizens and the navigator and flight engineer were Ukrainians.

All four were killed in the crash, Ruslan Madiyev, an official at the Russian embassy in Kampala, told RIA news agency.

Uganda said the flight also carried one Ugandan soldier, an Indian citizen, a Ugandan loadmaster and a South African peacekeeper.

Africa`s air accident rate is six times worse than the rest of the world, the International Air Transport Association says.

'Children die' in US plane crash (BBC)
Map

A plane has crashed in the northern US state of Montana, killing 17 people on board, aviation officials say.

A witness said the light aircraft crashed in a cemetery as it approached the airport in the town of Butte.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said several children were among the victims.

The pilot was flying from Oroville, California, when he diverted to Butte, the FAA said. He tried to land but crashed 500ft (150m) from the airport.

The plane crashed in a cemetery close to the airport in cloudy weather conditions, Nick Dipasquale, who works at a nearby convenience store, told the BBC.

He said he had been told that the children aboard the plane were returning from a ski trip.

He added that an operation was under way at the scene of the crash.

'Nosedive'

A local reporter at the crash site told the BBC the area was sealed off, and officials were not letting anyone near it.

"I did speak to one eyewitness who said he saw the plane approaching from the west and nosedive into the Holy Cross cemetery just short of the Burbon Lee airport here in Butte," Pat Ryan from the newspaper the Montana Standard said.

"I was on the scene speaking to eyewitnesses who basically described the plane coming in trying to make it to the runway and obviously not getting there."

He said witnesses told him there had then been an explosion and the plane had caught fire.

Les Dorr, an FAA spokesman, told the BBC that the plane crashed at approximately 1527 local time (2127 GMT).

He said the plane was a Pilatus PC-12 Swiss-made turboprop aircraft.
