The guy is just not serious enough.
President Jakaya Kikwete has vowed to work hard to bring about political and economic changes in the country despite the opposition the government is encountering from different circles due to what he termed as outdated political ideas.
Kikwete made the remarks on Thursday when talking to two senators from America who visited him at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
The talks between Kikwete and Senators Johnny Isakson of Georgia and Bob Corker of Tennessee centred on a number of issues including the existing relations between Tanzania and the US.
?We are determined to widen democracy, freedom of press, and transparency despite the fact that some people misuse the freedom due to poor understanding of the issues,? Kikwete said.
President Kikwete however told the senators, who are also members of the American Senate Parliamentary Committee, on the efforts made by his government in areas which were being assisted by America.
Kikwete also briefed them on the impact of the economic crunch which had started affecting the country?s economy. It was estimated that the country?s economy would grow between five and six per cent this year due to the impact of the economic slowdown.
Kikwete also briefed the senators on successes in the education sector, although it was faced with a number of challenges such as shortage of teachers, laboratories and books.
Both senators applauded President Kikwete's good leadership, saying he was the last leader to visit former president George Bush and the first one to meet with newly elected President Barrack Obama.
