    Default Obama kumbe siyo masihi!!

Aliingia kwa kauli mbiu ya "Change - Yes we Can".

Changes in economic policies take time to realize output. It is unfair to expect the policy initiatives to bear fruits in the short period that he has been in the office. Second, in a democracy, the powers of the president are always very limited, you have to go through congress to effect changes in policy, debates take a long time and when the bill is adopted, a lot of times it looks very different from how the initiator intended, because of the compromises that always accompany these bills. Give Obama time, he will accomplish his promises albeit in small proportions.

I do not think he will be a one term president, its all about the economy, if the economy picks up he will be OK, also it will depend on the Republican candidate, if the republicans field a weak candidate, Obama will repeat his presidency.

    Unpopular: Barack Obama is facing
    a backlash in the polls

Barack Obama’s fading popularity could cost him the next U.S. presidential election, according to a poll today. Most Americans would vote for any Republican politician over their current leader, the independent survey shows. With the U.S. mid-term elections fast approaching in November, Mr Obama’s popularity ratings make grim reading for Democrats hoping to cling to power on Capitol Hill.
His job approval rating has dropped to 44 per cent, his worst ever score, in Connecticut's Quinnipiac University poll. It marks a 13-point fall from a year ago before the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster and the firestorm over his health reforms that galvanised opponents. A majority of 39 per cent to 36 per cent said they would vote for an unnamed Republican rather than Mr Obama in 2012, with most saying that the president does not deserve a second term.

‘It was a year ago, during the summer of 2009 that America's love affair with President Barack Obama began to wane,’ Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said. ‘In July of 2009, the President had a 57 - 33 per cent approval rating. 'Today, his support among Democrats remains strong, but the disillusionment among independent voters is what leads to his weakness overall when voters start thinking about 2012,’ he added.

But Americans still like Mr Obama better than former president George Bush and former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin. The poll claims a majority of 42 per cent compared to 32 per cent prefer Mr Obama to Mr Bush in the White House and the president is liked better than Mrs Palin by 49 per cent to 45 per cent. Another plus is that Michelle Obama gets up to 55 per cent popularity ratings. But most Americans disapprove of Mr Obama’s handling of the economy, foreign policy, illegal immigration and the oil spill. Support for the Afghanistan war also hit a new low with 48 per cent saying it was the right thing to do and 43 per cent saying America should not be involved.
